This book, the outcome of research efforts on the monasterial history of Crete, provides the reader with all necessary information which will help him become familiar with the Byzantine memories of the island. It begins with an extensive introduction to the historical situation of Crete during the Byzantine period, gives a brief outline of the history of the island and concludes by suggesting specific trips to the countryside.
